A baggage handler was fatally scalped after getting her hair got tangled in the baggage conveyor belt at the New Orleans airport in the US. 

According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old Jermani Thompson was working on the apron, an area where the aircraft is parked, loaded, unloaded, refuelled, boarded and maintained when the accident occurred. Thompson was rushed to the hospital but died soon after.

The accident follows in the wake of many similar unfortunate baggage conveyor incidents, including a five-month-old infant dying after being caught in a conveyor belt at a Spanish airport in 2013, as well as a two-year-old child fracturing his arm after falling down the conveyor chute in Atlanta, US in 2019.
