A Coles shopper has stormed out of the store in a huff after unpacking his full trolley onto the conveyor belt only for the cashier to close the checkout.

Scott, from Bathurst, NSW, spent an hour doing his weekly shop with his eight-month-old child when he lined up at the cash register and unloaded his trolley.

Scott was third in the queue but when he reached the front the attendant told him 'sorry, my shift has ended' and left.

The frustrated shopper said he waited for the next attendant to begin their shift but grew increasingly frustrated when no replacement came.

Loving husband and father, Scott (pictured) was doing the week's shopping for his family, with an eight-month-old in his arms, when a Coles store attendant made his weekly shop miserable

Scott's ordeal drew support from fellow shoppers on the Coles Facebook page. Above is a stock image

Scott was ready to put his frustrations behind him when another Coles employee finally approached him, he said.

However, the staff member told him to pack all his shopping back into the trolley and line up again at a different checkout.

'After a brief argument with staff, I left the trolley-load of shopping including a lot of meats there and walked out,' Scott said.

'(I was) furious driving home. I rang the store to make a complaint to the manager, who wasn't there.'

He said he then had to speak to the assistant manager 'who didn't care and wasn't interested'. 'Disgusted is an understatement.'

Many fellow shoppers were quick to support Scott after he posted a furious spray on Facebook, lamenting the death of customer service in Australia.

'Yep. Disgraceful. No customer service anymore. Glad you walked out,' one said.

'That's terrible….when I worked for Coles it didn't matter if a shift was finishing, the staff had to serve the customer that was waiting and stay until the next shift started,' commented an ex-employee,' added another.

'That is just so disgraceful. There is no customer service any more, but it's not just Coles, it's the bloody lot of them,' said another.

Coles promised Scott the next time he went to the store he would receive get much better treatment (pictured)

Coles responded to Scott, writing: 'We're disappointed to hear this, as we expect our team members to be helpful and courteous to our customers at all times, and we're sorry this wasn't your experience'.

Coles said they had passed on Scott's complaint to store and regional matters to 'remind them of our expectations.'

'We trust that you'll notice an improvement moving forward and hope to see you back in the store soon.'

'Hi Scott, thanks for getting in touch.

'We're disappointed to hear this, as we expect our team members to be helpful and courteous to our customers at all times, and we're sorry this wasn't your experience.

'We've now passed this info onto our Store and Regional Managers to follow up with the team in question, and to remind them of our expectations.

'We trust that you'll notice an improvement moving forward and hope to see you back in store soon.'
