Windsor emerged unbeaten from the gruelling Bank Holiday schedule with plenty of reasons for optimism for boss Mick Woodham, writes David Lee.

The Royalists followed up Saturday’s hard-fought draw at Holyport with a convincing 3-0 victory over Flackwell Heath at Stag Meadow on Monday. A brace from young Academy 23 prospect Ted Woodisse and one from veteran forward Barry Hayles sealed victory.

Woodham told the Advertiser: “It was a good team performance on the back of a difficult game on Saturday.

“We defender our goal when we needed to and took our chances.

“They’re a good side Flackwell so we had to make sure our shape was good. There was a lot of tireless work done off the ball from the front guys all the way through to the goalkeeper.

“When we got the ball back we took our chances very well.”

At the age of 50, former Premier League forward Hayles continues to show his class in the Combined Counties Premier Division North.

Woodham added: “Barry is doing what he does and if he’s not scoring he’s working very hard.”

Windsor are continuing to utilise their relationship with the Academy23 development group to give gametime to promising players in Berkshire.

Midfielder Woodisse is among those on the conveyor belt of talent from the football academy who is looking to make his mark on the senior game.

“There’s plenty of boys down there from A23 and if they need football I’m quite happy to facilitate that,” Woodham added.

“I’ve always had a strong relationship with Ash (Smith) and Tom and that will always be in place.

“If the timing is right and there are openings my door is always open to the A23’s due to their attitude and ability.”

Windsor’s four points from six over the Bank Holiday weekend leaves them sixth place in the table ahead of a trip to Hilltop on Saturday.
