Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs keen on signing Sassuolo midfielder, David Frattesi, according to reports.

A report from Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Spurs fancy their chances of signing Frattesi and could launch a move for him either in January or next summer. It’s believed Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is keen on the idea of bringing in a midfielder who can bring goals from a central position.

Frattesi is among a number of Sassuolo players to impress over the last few seasons. The Italy team that won Euro 2020 had a number of their players involved and Frattesi has continued that impressive conveyor belt.

And in good news for Tottenham, Frattesi has made it known in the past he is more than open to a move to the Premier League, despite interest from other big Italian clubs like Juventus.

“I’d like that, it’s a league I can see myself in. But it’s a step to take in two or three years, after I’ve established myself. But it’s a league that fascinates me a lot, also because it doesn’t have too many tactics, where you go back and forth for ninety minutes and I like that idea,” Frattesi said of the idea of moving to England.

Tottenham have plenty of goals in the team at the moment but it is true that a central attacking midfielder is probably the one area lacking right now.

Frattesi could help solve that problem for Spurs and while there’s talk of Sassuolo wanting £26m for the midfielder, that isn’t a huge sum in the modern game. Of course, just the six goals in more than 40 appearances for the Serie A side isn’t exactly outstanding either.

Nevertheless, Frattesi is one for Spurs to watch and with Paratici and Conte’s links to Italy, a deal could very much happen.
